What do we do now?

Okay, the election is done and the outcome not what I predicted. Donald Trump is the new president after a close race to the finish. I voted, but not for him. I did not vote for Hillary either, so let’s not go there. I have to accept that Trump won, but I don’t have to like it. Now that he’s elected, there are several things he MUST do for me to take him seriously…..

*Suspend his business interests, all of his business interests.

*Appoint a Superior Court Judge of conservative leanings otherwise the court becomes unbalanced and invalidates any future debate over the legality of conservative laws. (The Supreme Court, ideally, should have NO ideology, left or right, but that will never happen. A balanced court is all we can hope for.)

*Begin work on immigration reform. The wall is not as significant as one might think, but the reform MUST NOT include instant acceptance of the “undocumented” immigrant. Be they from Mexico, Iraq, Syria, Poland, or wherever, they must obtain LEGAL status to continue on to citizenship.

*Take a serious look at our tax codes and the status of our countries finances. He cannot cut taxes across the board and still maintain the current budget levels. To promise to do so is “pie in the sky” thinking.

These were the planks that made up his platform. He must now move on these things. Hillary is a thief, a liar, and a murderer. Her history should have kept her from running to begin with, but so be it. EVERY bit of trade and tax law that he promotes will be judged and examined as to its effect on his businesses and income. The democrats will seize every opportunity to turn away and defeat bills favored by Trump. It may literally become four years of a lame duck president with the democrats blocking everything that gets sent up for votes. Trump will have many things that smart people will look for.

*His daughters clothing line and shoe line is made in China. Look for favoritism of trade from China and all points east where his daughters business will be exempt from trade laws and tax codes.

*Trade laws and tax codes that favor Trumps international business interests even after he leaves office…especially after he leaves office…as he may use the opportunity of the office to set up profitable circumstances in the future.

*Nepotism…he has a large family with well-educated sons and daughter. Watch that he doesn’t begin to give them positions that will offer up advancement and financial opportunities for these four years and beyond. If he is truly not of the establishment, he will not engage in practices so often used by prior presidents.

I didn’t vote for him, but I sure as hell will watch him, closely. Trump will need to watch his step and proceed with care, or everything Hillary and all the anti-Trump people have said about him will be proven true and a second term will be out of reach. He doesn’t need a second term though, if in the first term, he passes all the laws that benefit his, and his daughters, financial interests down the road. Vigilance is necessary. Writing and calling your representatives whenever things seem a bit odd are still your way of having your say in how the government works “for the people”.

The next four years will be a wild ride I think. Good luck to us all.

We can only hope. I read where he hopes to put the co-founder of Lucas Oil in as Secretary of the interior, and some crony from Goldman-Sachs as Secretary of Treasury. Put the wolves in charge of the hen house.

We shall see, I am pleased that enough of my fellow citizens are over politics as usual & have chosen to make the “broadside attack” at the ballot box & not in the streets. Let’s see if the left can keep it out of the streets, there’s my primary concern… that the left will make this a far less than peaceful transition.

Thank you. There is much to be seen I think, and much to be regretted as well. Good luck is not all we need. We need responsible citizens to keep him, the senate, and the congress in check by writing and calling them. We have power, but we must use our voices to have it mean anything.

It’s going to be an interesting four years. I’d much rather eat crow than have my fears realized.

I try to be. I’m not thrilled with the outcome. Our electoral college has got to go. Should have been dismantled years ago. An archaic system that is heavily flawed.

No it’s the only thing that gets small states any electoral power, Hillary already ignored Wisconsin, without the EC no one ever goes there again.

We are a union of states, a Republic… we’re not a Democracy, we’re not built to be one & if anyone tried to make us one I think that voids the Constitution & dissolves the nation as it changes the fundamental nature of our union to the point the contract is no longer enforceable except through military might & the conquest of dissenting states. Disband the College & states that have fewer than 7 electors never see a candidate again unless it’s their home state. Disband the college &

those tiny dark blue areas get to dictate to the rest of the nation, the rest of the nation is well armed & doesn’t like being dictated to.

I can win any election in a simple democracy with a 1 plank platform, the bottom 55% will pay no taxes, add planks about free healthcare, education, prison reform & more benefits for social services & you just widen the margins. Until an opponent decides to promise the same thing to the bottom 60%… 65, 70, 75, 8….
